I will be driving my small car with an 8ft teardrop trailer from the South to the New York City area to visit the City. I would like to know if I will be able to park car and trailer in a public lot at the Staten Island facility to catch the Ferry into NYC. If so, what is the cost? As an alternative, Is there anywhere that I can park my car and teardrop near NYC and be allowed to sleep in my trailer for the night? I do not mind riding a subway, bus, or ferry into NY, but I want my car and trailer to still be there when I get back. I would think a hotel or business in a suburban area would allow me to do this for a fee. Campgrounds charging plus to park are a little ridiculous. If I pay that, I’ll add a little and stay in a hotel somewhere. I am a first timer to NY and need a little advice. Thanks.

I have a wonderful 70lb mutt and I cannot stand the thought of leaving her for vacation, so I’m adjusting my vacation plans to better fit her needs. Instead of flying, I’m driving with my boyfriend and four year old dog 2,000 miles. I’m wondering what you all have used to keep your dog comfortable on a road trip. Unfortunately, because I can’t drive stick shifts, we’ll be driving my kind of small car (Saturn Ion 2004) that will not fit her crate. How can I keep her comfortable in the backseat so she’ll be secure and able to sleep during the drive? The backseat consists of 2 bucket seats divided by a black console type thing that I could maybe lay blankets over… If there is some type of car bed or something for my big dog, could you link me to it?
Also, when camping, I do not want to just tie her to something. There will be times we have to leave her to shower and things like that, never more than an hour or so though and we could always take turns going somewhere she’s not allowed. I was looking at something like this: http://www.petco.com/Shop/Product.aspx?sku=1216449&pd=recentlyviewedproduct
but it doesn’t secure to the ground, so if she wanted to she could escape very easily through the bottom. I want something secure, safe, roomy, and comfortable; yet easy to assemble, lightweight, and kind of concealed. Should I just bypass this whole idea and keep her in the tent? When we’re out of the tent, I want her to be close by but not getting tangled in the lead and everything else… This was so much easier when my dad had a popup camper!
Any solutions? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I am going camping in June and taking my 90 lb. black lab great dane mix with me. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a bed for me. I usually use an air mattress but i know my dog will sleep on it with me and not sure if he will puncture it. Are there any very durable air beds out there? Or any other ideas? I thought of a cot, but my dog sleeps with me everynight in my bed, so I know he and I both wont fit on a cot, and prolly wont be able to break the habit of him sleeping with me. Any ideas are welcome!!! Thanks!!

What is the best camping gear for a large dog?

I haven’t been camping since I was ten years old. I would love to plan a camping trip with my family here in AZ. I know some necessities to take along, but I do not know where to start in planning this trip.
There will be no hiking involved. I have a four year old son, and really all I want to do is go camping in the woodsy areas, go exploring with my son, and stay overnight. I know we will have to rent a camping trailer to sleep in since we don’t have that.
But, what other camping gear will I need besides "OFF" for bugs, and a First Aid Kit?
What are good inexpensive cooking items I can take along?
And, have you ever been camping in AZ? Where did you go?
Any helpful hints would be fabulous! Thanks so much!
Ms.Crazy Luvs You: That was hillarious and SO TRUE! Thanks for that very helpful hint! I forgot all about that one! LOL

well thats about it im looking at doing the around australia trip and i have a 2.8l turbo diesel nissan patrol with diesel chip and 3inch exaust and the question that is bothering me is do i take 2 quad bikes alone with us that would come in around 400kg for just bikes and gear, plus trailer that i would build custom that would be 2000×2400 and have a box under bikes for storage that would be about 500high and and would be close to 450kg 850kg with out any camping gear cooking gear etc we would sleep in the back of the patrol or in a tent, of
do i leave the bikes at home and build a camper trailer that would only be like 450kg and give us a lot more comfy trip and a lot more room to store everything and leave the car free for fridges, water tanks, cloths, food etc etc, or
3rd option sell patrol and chase a gu 4.2td coil cab and take both bikes and the camper trailer
might be a bit heavy tho
and y i have u all here how much do u think that the trip would cost first time doing the trip and hopefully wont be the last we are both 22 will be looking at doing the trip for about 6months and a lot of camping in bush etc rather then caravan parks etc im thinking maybe 50 a day in fuel 30 in food plus couple 1000 in case of brakages etc

lol i was just remembering mine
everybody stayed in tents so there were alot of those ropes around that hold the tent’s down and me and my friend couldn’t sleep so we went outside in our pajamas ans started shaking peoples tents to scare them and there was one tiny tent and i was shaking it and when i was ruining away i tripped over the ropes and landed on top of the tent and then this old woman came out and i can imagine myself lying on the ground in sponge bob shorts pair of wellies and the funniest looking rain coat ever lmao!

Don’t have an RV so it needs to be one that offers cottages, a lake of course. A pool would be great.
website/links if possible
No tent. The airconditioner tips the tent over. Very uncomfortable to sleep like that. electricity please. with a pottie and a coffee maker.
