When it comes to airsoft classes, you need to know what you are dealing with before you venture out there to get a gift for someone you love, or to buy one for yourself. Airsoft can be a risky sport if you aren’t careful, and you should be armed with as much information as possible to make an informed, good decision when it comes to this sport. This sport is designed to be extreme, and high energy, with guns and accessories that really mimic their real life cousins.

So let’s take a look at the different types of airsoft guns that are available out there for purchase. As a primary initiative, we will take a peek at spring airsoft rifles/gun. This gun is the most basic type of gun, and includes a spring that has to be manually cocked each and every time the gun fires. This spring propels the ammo through the air, and some high powered spring pistols can get into the low 200s FPS (feet per second), possibly more. Spring airsoft guns are the least expensive, and easiest to operate out of all the airsoft guns available.

The electric airsoft gun is an improved version of the spring airsoft gun. The main propulsion still comes fro m a spring, but this gun has a battery operated cocking mechanism to prep the gun for firing. It is this mechanism that allows for the electric airsoft gun to be designed to be fully or semi automatic, depending on the manufacturer’s discretion.

Finally, the top tier of airsoft guns is the gas powered airsoft gun. This type of airsoft gun uses CO2 and/or green gas, which is mostly just propane, to power the weapon. When the trigger is engaged, the airsoft gun releases a burst of the gas through the chamber, thus forcing the airsoft BB into the air.
