What is an RV Sewer Hook up? Can the RV be hooked to the sewer line through out the camping duration?

How often do we have to empty the tanks (Black & Grey water tanks, 55g). We are renting a class C (30ft) RV for 8 adults, I am worried if we have to keep emptying the tanks every now and then? I am told, there are these Sewer Hook ups available at camp grounds. These sewer lines remain hooked up to the RV all through the night till morning? In that case, I am fine, because we can can do the shower, do the morning chores, use the toilet etc while the sewer is directly hooked up to the sewer lines, and once everyone are empty and fresh, we can unhook the lines and drive off. However, if it is like, hook to the sewer lines, empty the tank and move your vehicle for others in line (Just like how we pump gas at a gas station), and repeat the cycle each time the tank gets full, then I have my work cut out I guess…? Please advise.
most if not all RV campsites have hookups at each site and you can stay hooked up the duration of your time there
Almost every private campground has sites with sewer connections. With those you hook the sewer line (which is an accordion-fold pipe, usually stored in one of the bumpers to the unit, and lower the other end into the dump pipe.
You can leave it hooked up that way for the duration of your stay.
There is a slide on the RV side of the sewer line. Make sure it is in the closed position until you’re hooked up, in case there is anything in the holding tank. When you’re ready to leave, close it again before disconnecting the sewer hose.
Incidentally, the rental place will walk you through how everything works. Between now and when you pick up the unit keep a running list of questions. They’ll have all the answers for you.
BTW, with 8 people in the rig, I wouldn’t use the RV’s shower at all. The campgrounds will have bath houses, and, for many reasons, it makes more sense to use them than your unit’s amenities. For instance, there’s not much room in the shower stall to get dressed. But with 7 other people in the rig, there won’t be much more room outside of it—questions of privacy aside.
Same goes for the head. I’d use the facilities in the bathhouse, saving the RV’s head for those "gotta-go-right-now" times.
Let me also caution you that if you’re putting 8 adults in a 30 foot class C, I hope they’re very friendly. You’re gonna be packed in there.
