Road trips and RV s prices and places to go?

I am thinking about getting a RV or van or something to travel in. I will have 2+ people with me and will travel for a long time. I know Myrtle Beach, NC/SC is really busy in the summer so I know that is one place I will stay for a few months. I would like to know about how much it cost in gas to travel in an RV like class C ones or the converted vans. Also places you can stay in them, sites to see, how much different things will cost us, and so on. I know there are alot of people out there that live in their RVs and travel and I would like to hear different things about their expiriences and things. PLEASE help me out in deciding the best things to do.
