Metric Century: Indian Valley, Downieville, Sierra City, Bassetts, Portola, Little Bear RV Park

This is a tough ride along Hwy 49 from Indian Valley Campground (2270 feet) to Downieville, the Sierra County Seat. Downieville is nearly 3000 feet. The ride continues up the mountain to Sierraville at 4200 feet then on to Bassetts Station for a lunch stop at 5380 feet. Another six miles up the mountain to Gold Lake takes the rider to the top of the mountain. Then the rider gets an 8 mile descent to Hwy 89. Turning south, the rider is soon passing Clio then turning east on A15 to Portola. The final ten miles is level to descending to the Little Bear RV Park in Graeagle California. Total mileage is 66 miles with 5300 feet of climbing.
