Surviving In The Wilderness With My 4 Person Tent

Even though it’s against my will, I will join my friends in the wilderness. No less than a camping trip. I’m no chicken but an excursion to the boondocks is not exactly my cup of tea. What is the fun in roughing it up? Why leave the comfort of home? I really don’t get it. I can’t say I’ll enjoy having cuts and bruises, being in the mud nor sleeping outside the comfort of home. I will be embarrassed and humiliated by my very own friends, if I will not join them. Just now, they promised. I really have no choice in the matter. They need two tents, since there are eight of us. One of them has one 4 person tent and, unfortunately for me, my uncle also has one. He’s not going to lend his 4 person tent to my friends without me. I have no choice. They will do just about anything, short of hog tying me, to bring me along.
What is so surprising is I’m actually enjoying it. I am basking in the solitude of it all. Right now, I stand corrected. Nothing can compare, no words can describe the wonderful feeling, the sweet solitude one experience when communicating with Mother Nature. The feeling of serenity while communing with nature. All my reservations about this encounter, vanished into thin air. Once you let go of your inhibitions, everything will fall into place. Maybe there’s still the mud and the bites, but as I found out, it makes the adventure much sweeter and memorable.
I have my 4 person tent to be thankful. It is designed to be set-up very easily. It’s very cozy inside. You can stand inside without stooping and I stand six-feet and two inches. Four big teenagers inside a 4 person tent? Definitely possible. Its durability and sturdiness gives you security while you sleep. It’s really amazing. We hardly felt the rain at night.
Back again in the city, I realize my concept of the wilderness has changed for the better. I may still not like “splashing in mud”, but I definitely welcome another camping trip. Perhaps with my family this time. Life away from the city is invigorating and good for our mind and body. Getting rough? Fat chance, as long as I have my reliable 4 person tent with me.
