Tourist attractionsare the places visited by the tourists for its exhibited or inherent cultural values, built or natural beauty, historical significance, or other amusement opportunities. Some of the most common tourist attractions include zoos, monuments, museums, aquaria, botanical gardens, national parks and forests, buildings and structures, ethnic enclave communities, theme parks and carnivals, cultural events and historic trains.

At times, certain tourist attractions are created to capitalize on the unnatural or unexplained phenomena such as ghost sightings, UFOs and so on. Many tourists also like to visit the local ethnic communities. Few tourist attractions allow the admission free of charge, but there are some that charge exorbitant fees for low quality goods and services. These places are known as tourist traps.

Each country has some special tourist attractions, giving it some claim to fame. But there are few more impressive, interactive and famous world attractions giving something different and new to the visitors. One such tourist attraction is the L’Aquarium de Barcelona in Spain. This aquarium is located at the Port Vell, and is a perfect place for family. There are many activities to keep the kids busy in this largest aquarium in Europe. There are 21 tanks filled with exotic and interesting marine life that can keep children amused for hours.

The London Dungeon is yet another famous tourist attraction in UK, and is an extensive exhibit of gruesome and macabre. This place introduces visitors to the less talked-about side of London. There is a place dedicated to the Great Fire of London, and there is also a section that exhibits horrendous acts of Jack the Ripper.

A tram system running from Central district of Hong Kong to the Victoria Peak is another world famous tourist attraction. This tram has been operational since 1881, and was built by a businessman named Alexander Smith who had a hotel on Victoria Peak. He wanted to offer a direct route to this establishment, so he requested to create the Peak Tram. Residents and tourists now enjoy the breathtaking view several times a day.

The Acropolis in Greece is also a very famous tourist attraction, and is a collection of three temples. Each temple depicts entirely different aspects of Athena, a Greek Goddess. The temples, amphitheaters and the ancient beauty and grace are the attractions of the Acropolis for the visitors.

The Eiffel Tower of Paris has always been the best symbol of French architecture. It is well known visited structures in the world. The structure was built by Gustave Eiffel, and features an observation wing giving the most incredible view of Paris.
