Hey Soul Sista! I am soooo glad you got to see this video because I really think it would work well for you when you take your van on the road. Thanks for the comments on the Burro and I have footage….somewhere….that I hope to find so I can edit to share a virtual tour of my humble ‘room of one’s own’. Love Ya…Laurie!

@LoveRise Wow – your Subaru is working pretty hard for you – great cars – see them in mass numbers at every trailhead.

That is very exciting and I appreciate the accolade! I think your wife might take to the idea a bit better if you offer to shampoo her hair for the first time with the system. That might make her more receptive…wink…wink. Thanks for watching and sharing that you will try this system after seeing the video. Makes me feel like I’ve made a difference by creating it. With much gratitude…Laurie

Indeed! Considering it has over 171,000 miles on it and is rated to tow 2500 pounds with the Forresters 4 cyl. engine it is pretty impressive. I’ve traveled to the tip of Baja to the Mountains of Banff and it’s been a trouper all without a transmission cooler which did prevent me from getting up the mountains to see Jasper in British Colombia without overheating but everywhere else it’s been a trouper!

I will indeed offer to shampoo her hair! She’s pretty receptive to my ideas, but that one has been a blocker. I’m a communication major in college (at age 53); keep on communicating what you have; you never know who’s reading or listening.

Yes I agree, communication is key both on and off Youtube and I especially appreciate your reminder which I need to embrace wholeheartedly today. Warmly, Laurie

Pretty cool. I need to get one of those. Nice strong sturdy hands and 3:14 seems like good exercise :-)

Thanks for watching! And I appreciate your comment though I think you and I both know there are more fun ways to get that type of exercise…wink…wink!

Celebrating strong hands and longgg fingers!…Laurie

I came up with another way of dealing with the issue about sealing the cap onto a gallon jug. If you fix your own bicycles or someone near you does, there’s probably an old (non-usable) tube lying around. If the tube is for about a 2″ diameter tire, cut it across to make a circle. That should fit around the lid well enough to seal it pretty well.

That is an AWESOME idea! I even have a brand new tire tube that is 2 inches for my Folding bike that I could use. Very inventive!!

You have a folding bike? Me, too. Great minds work alike, I guess.

I always keep an old blown tube around for shims and things; that’s why I suggested a “non-working” tube.

    Indeed….Grr-eat minds!!

I have one of these sprayers it works great.
I might use it as a power squirt gun or something. it shoots pretty far.

Thanks for watching! I love mine and I don’t even bother filling my tanks and using my hand pump in my camper any longer. I just fill a portable bottle and attach the shower for cleaning and showering.

Laurie this is a great idea. I like that it uses AA batteries I also have a set of rechargeables for my camera. Hardware store that carry Do it Best aren’t too hard to find. Look in the Yellow Pages if you still have one of those old paper phone books LOL. Even if the store doesn’t have one of these in stock I bet they would be willing to order one and that would save a little on shipping. I think I’ll swing by the closest one when I get some time and pick oue of these cool gadgets up.

Hey Buddy…thanks for checking this out. I really love it especially because it takes soooo little space and I can choose what size water bottle I want to use. When I used the pump sprayer previously it took up alot of space even for the half gallon size and honestly I did get tired of always having to pump it up to get the correct pressure. I use aa batteries in everything so I always have them on hand. With much appreciation! Laurie

can you explain more about how the cap doesn’t fit the bottle well. i don’t think i got that after 5 minutes or so.

  18. 18 LoveRise said at 12:38 pm on August 24th, 2010:

Hey thanx for watching! The cap that comes with the shower gun is ‘suppose’ to be a universal thread but I haven’t found any bottles it fits exactly. So you can find a bottle you want to use and drill a hole through the cap which will allow you to use any bottle.

    Hi
I watched this video and ordered one on Amazon. I put the hose with cap in a wide mouth half gallon juice pitcher. Then I used the sprayer and it worked. It did take a moment to build up enough suction to work. But it proves that the cap (lid) does not need to fit on the water container opener. The cap will work even though it is emersed in the water. Thanks for sharing. I will use this sprayer for many uses along with my tradional hand-pump water faucet. Bye, Sharon R.

Sharon! That is really insightful feedback. It hadn’t even occured to me that I could just drop it into a pail of water, or a bottle with a much larger opening and use it. But of course…duh…why not! Thank you so much for posting that discovery because it opens up other potential uses! Celebrate Life, Laurie

    Shower Gun Update:

So I am still using this system in my camper yet I no longer use chlorine as the second rinse for two reasons. First, it was a bit of a hassle switching over the cap to the second bottle and I like things to be quick in easy especially when I’m living and traveling in a small space. Second, I just redeocorated my camper and laid new carpet and I don’t want to risk getting chlorine spray on the carpet so I am using 91% alcohol in a spray bottle for the final rinse!

Good for you! My best advice is to check out an inspirational and insightful nuts and bolts type of site for vandwelling on Yahoo Groups called Vandwellers. “Make the journey worthy of the destination”…Laurie

  25. 25 LoveRise said at 4:10 pm on November 1st, 2010:

@paddyboy12432 well then you should check out the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous in January in Quartzite Arizona where many vandwellers will be connecting. It’s free and you CAN car camp or backpack and tent in the desert as well. So pack up your fall back pack set up and head out to this inspirational gathering!
