Done
Good video!
You could also try wrapping a piece of cotton on a small stick, which makes it a little easier to get the fire into the pit. 5/5
i always used to call this design the “oven” style fire… rather than “cabin”
how long that shit stay light with out any more wood
Depends on what kind of wood you use and what you mean by staying lit. The one I built would probably have a flame coming off it for a good 30 minutes if I didn’t add any more wood, plus it would smolder for a good while longer.
train lol. nice video
nice method of making your fire but I think that your sweedish fire steel is the best but scriping it with a knife is not good because you might dill the blade and its not very good for the knife, Good Vid tho
I definitely agree, which is why I used the spine (back) of the knife.
why don’t you use petrol and a lighter it get it lit much faster than your meth od and you don’t need to use a lot of petrol to get it going just a drop will do and a sheet of newspaper
A campfire not a forestfire, good modo.
He could also use a flamethrower.
You sir, have completely missed the point of this sort of video.
i actually tried this method and it is awesome! thanks!
Baby Baby Baby House
I just received my 6 inch by .5 fire steel this Friday very cool works just as described
This is a good way to start a fire it is the same method i used to burn down my school in’87
What knife was that?
my first thought while watching this was: is there anyone out there who really needs to spend 6 minutes watching how to do something as unbelievably simple as taking a match and lighting some wood for a fire,,,, and then I am thinking yes probably is someone does need to watch this guy light a fire with his cottonballs and log cabin method than it should probably be even longer because they must be really thick in the head!
what king of wood was that?
@gnomehater63 Random stuff from my yard, so probably some walnut, pecan, and maple.
The point of a Log cabin fire is that it burns longer, and it burns like a candle, so you start the fire from the top, you need to build a mini Teepee style fire on top of the thing…
5:43 “…as you can see once you get the first little FART lit the rest of it lights by its self.” #lol
Excellent Vid! I normally use the tepee method, but tried this type a few days ago, and was very impressed. Within five minutes the flame was up and roaring. Thanks.
Get off the line, THERE’S A TRAIN COMIN’ !
No need to say sorry. Your the one teaching us
