I need some survival and just plain old tips.
Make sure you take: Sunblock, insect repellent, toilet paper (or Kleenex in pocket packs), matches, candle, flashlight, batteries, knife, first aid kit, camera, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, a tarp for ground cover and/or shelter, rope, trash bags, water, cooler, changes of clothes, food for meals, snacks.
These are also handy: fishing gear, playing cards or other non-electronic games, book, cell phone, weapon for self-defense, if it’s allowed.
Don’t bother with: Soft drinks (they’ll just make you thirstier), video games, boombox. (A small radio for weather news is OK).
Make sure to not keep any food in your tent. Suspend your cooler or food bag from a tree to make sure you don’t have any uninvited guests. Remember, wild animals live in the woods. You’re just a guest.
If you think it’s going to rain, or you plan to swim or boat, hang your wet clothes out to dry before repacking them. Pack your replacement clothes in Ziplock bags. After a long, cold day, there’s no feeling quite like warm dry underwear.
You can get some more really good ideas from the Boy Scout handbook. You can buy one at a Scout center or bookstore.
Lay a ground tarp under the tent. Remove all rocks and sticks from area first and make sure you dont pitch your tent over a gopher or other rodent hole. Bring a small piece of carpet remnant to use as a doormat in front of the tent. Hang you garbage from a rope in a tree to thwart the raccoons.
what kind of camping tips?
be sure to bring a tarp and rope in case it rains …no tent is completely waterproof and it could rain so being dry is important. A good sleeping bag and an air mattress are also things you will want. dry and comfortable are the key.
