Camping in Georgia? Tips or ideas please?

We live in North Florida. Any good ideas for a weekend trip? Blue ridge mountains? We don’t want to spend much money so how would we go about this? Any free camping shelters or lodges or very cheap lodges.
Any specific hiking trails we can follow that have good shelters? We are not experienced hikers, but we are young and have done much hiking before. Please give us info on any sites to direct us to equipment, techniques, lodging/shelters/hostels/ and trails we can do.
Thanks!!
Head up to Anniston and Cheaha State Park. Specifically, go to Lake Chinnabee and not far from there is a hiking trail that takes you up past several waterfalls (which are actually better in the spring). Can’t miss!
Stone Mountain is a nice place.
