Well done. I’m glad you mentioned the ground cloth (footprint), and cautioned about being to forceful sliding in the tent poles. Great video, and very informative. Thanks.

with all do respect i think its a half dome cause the quarter dome is mostly mesh and the poles just clip in the top no sleaves.

You didn’t explain about the out the flysheet and guy ropes. Their crucial components of any standard dome tent.

I usually set up the poles then stake out later to maintain tension. Although I’m not using a sleeved tent pole system.

Can I come along with you on a camping mission? I’d like you to show me close up where to slide my pole in. And I bet our tent would never get cold. We can stick it up together and I promise not to rip your fabric

why use a tent that you have to pack poles for? tipis are simple and you can cut a pole at your site and then leave it. wyominglostandfound

To ForestRyder – this is the older, previous model of the REI Quarter Dome; it’s not the new Quarter Dome T-1. The older Quarter Dome looked very much like the Half Dome but smaller. I know, because I have this tent and I also have the new Rei Quarter Dome T-1. This is a great tent – just a little heavier than I wanted for lightweight backpacking, so I use it for car camping.
