    all of the following are good and from my girls time as girl scouts…

    smores, hot dogs (plain or wrapped in bacon), hamburgers, foil packets with either (fish, chicken, or pork chops -the thin ones, and a mix of veggies)

    also you can ck out boy or girl scout books for other neat ideas

    one of my favorites (and my kids too) we made potatoe mush

    using frozen hash browns(one one pound bag)
    one dozen eggs
    one pkg of grated cheese(or to your own taste)
    one pkg of bacon cooked and crumbled
    one jar salsa
    1-2 pkgs of tortillas

    cook, drain and crumble the bacon
    save the grease
    using the grease fry the hash browns till 3/4 of way done
    scramble the eggs and add to hash brown mixture cook till about 3/4 of way done and add bacon pieces
    once eggs are done turn down flames and sprinkle with cheese and cover for 3-5 minutes so the cheese melts
    serve with salsa and tortillas or just salsa on a plate

    you can also try the following

    tear corn totillas( 1-2 per person) into bite sized pieces and lightly fry
    add in as many eggs as needed ( usually 2 per person) adn scramble till cooked
    top with grated cheese and serve with salsa or ketchup

    also really quick meals like fruit and veggie kabobs with yogurt or ranch dressing are always hits with kids to make them fancier add some meat like chicken or shrimp or imitation crab

    For fun snacks you can do smores, (graham crackers with some marshmallows and chocolate), and of course you can always do hotdogs over the fire, Also, depending on where you are camping at, if they have a lake and like to fish, you can always wrap up the fish in foil and have that, just bury it in some hot coals. Corn on the cob is easy to while you’re camping.

    Ham and Sweet Potato Foil Pack
    INGREDIENTS:

    * cubed ham
    * canned sweet potatoes
    * canned chuck pineapple
    * two tablespoons of butter
    * one tablespoon brown sugar
    * heavy duty aluminum foil
    * charcoal fire
    * optional: grate for fire

    PREPARATION:
    Place on a large piece of aluminum foil the ham cubes, sweet potatoes(in large cubes), and chunk pineapple. Put two tablespoons of butter on top and sprinkle with brown sugar. Gather two opposite sides and fold down like a lunch bag.
    Fold in the other two sides trying to leave some air in the pack. Cook on grate over coal fire, turning in 10 minutes, finished in 20 minutes. Makes one pack per person.

    smores, hotdog cooked with a stick in the fire, marshmellows on a stick in the fire or you can use wire coat hangers if you don’t want to use sticks, you would of course have to unravel them and stretch them out before you use the coat hangers.Watermelon, all you would need for all of this is drinks, maybe some capri suns, hotdogs, buns, mustard, ketchup, marshmellows, gram cracker, chocolate, and for breakfast maybe get some cereal bars or you could just drive into town if not that far from it and eat out.You could buy some of those small cans of coke they sell at walmart so that the drinks would not be wasted, Any kind of sandwiches would be good to take like peanut butter and maybe jelly or I used to love to eat peanutbutter and banana.These ideas are really simple and if they are old enough they will eenjoy cooking their own hotdog in the fire and if they are not old enough to do that then they will enjoy the fore and you could cook the hotdogs in the fire for them.Have fun and hope this helps.

    HOBO DINNERS FOR CAMP

    For Each Dinner: A few carrots, sliced lengthwise A potato, sliced thick 1/2 onion, sliced thick Other veggies as desired Salt and pepper to taste
    Each person, young and old, fixes their own hobo dinner.

    In a large (15 inch square) piece of aluminum foil, place the hamburger patty and veggies. Season with salt and pepper and top with a part of butter. Seal the tin foil. Place about 5 inches from the coals and cook 40 minutes, turning once.

    Try tortilla pizzas on the grill. Get a pkg. of tortillas, a jar of tomato sauce and a pkg. of motzarella cheese. (maybe some pepperoni too). Put the tortilla on a hot grill for a moment, flip and spread sauce, top with cheese and enjoy. Let the wee ones help. If they are good veggie eaters, grill some and add that to top too! Happy camping (don’t forget the bug spray)!
