YOSEMITE CAMPERS: Which Yosemite campsite is better: Lower Pines or Wawona?

So far–judging on the amenities–Wawona looks better.
Some things to keep in mind:
-We are very new at camping
-Never have been in Yosemite
-Not too fit (we’re not going to be doing some crazy rock climbing up that huge rock or anything)
-We want to walk around and see…nature =)
-We don’t have fishing gear
-We want to have a bonfire or something and be able to cook
-Even though we are not prima donas, we kind of want a toilet to do our business =)
Any info would be soooooo awesome!
Thanks =)
-Sammy
I like Wawona the best, temp wise it really is not that much different then lower pines, and being closer to the river is nice. However if you don’t have reservations now good luck they go fast.

Go to Lower Pines in the valley, it will be warmer at night than Wawona because it is a lower elevation. Be aware that we just had snow down to 4,000 feet, Yosemite Valley is 4,000 feet, and there is a small chance of snow on Friday night. It started snowing Sunday afternoon and snowed til Monday night, wintertime is still holding on here in the mountains, nighttime temps. are still pretty cold.
Be prepared and have a great time, Yosemite is at it’s prettiest right now. The waterfalls are running strong and the tourist hordes haven’t arrived yet.
If you need a warmer alternate, Death Valley is really nice right now, was there for most of last week. The wildflower bloom is really nice this year and is happening right now. Whatever you chose get out, be prepared and have fun!
