what is the best sleeping bag i can get?

what do you guys think about a sleeping pad? (goes under bag)
im not sure what to do as far as getting a pad for it i dont know what kind of places i might end up sleeping in
lol i remember this one camping trip where i didnt have a pad and i was so fortunate that my tent on the camp ground could only fit in this one spot where this big slab of hard pan was so when i woke up i had hurrendus pain in my side turns out i fractured one of my lower ribs and it never healed back the right way
so yeah is getting a pad to go with it a good idea? lol
also what about tents?
