why does the NBA have more black players than white players? Does the NBA recruit from Europe to balance out?

The above article compares the lack of white players in the NBA to the lack of black players in MLB. I don’t think that the NBA recruits and sets up training camps in Europe for the purpose of bringing in more white players (Since Tony Parker is not white). And I don’t think the NBA cares too much about what race a player is as long as they play good. I would like to know what other people think.
It’s because of the genes of black people, but it really doesn’t matter it depends if you’re good or not
the reason why there are more black players in the NBA compared to the MLB is simple….Money and funding. i have heard many interviews on this issue and the fact is, it is VERY expensive to keep the maintenance up on a baseball field for cities. not to mention how much it cost to keep baseball programs and baseball camps. Not every city can afford it. water bills, fertilizer, and pesticide chemicals, diesel fuel for the mowers, and the mowers to keep up a baseball field takes a huge toll on cities.
while in basketball you have the pavement, the hoop and there ya have it. there are alot of single african american mothers(i singled them out because your asking about african americans) who work very hard but dont have the income to buy baseball equipment which will cost over 300 dollars. that in itself is expensive compared to a 30 dollar basketball she can buy for her son.
basketball is easier maintenance and all around cheaper. you see alot of hispanics playing baseball because in thier home country baseball is the way out of poverty. while for african americans basketball is the way out of poverty to a better life(when it comes to sports.)
as for Europe. you are right its not a race thing to even up the numbers in race. its a World Wde thing. Other countries are taking an interest in basketball and getting more popular. therefore the other countries are improving. the NBA can see this so they are playing it smart trying to market their product WorldWide, not just the USA. more players from other countries, the more fans from other countries, the more merchandise the NBA sells. more people equals more money. at least thats why i think Europeans are now being drafted more and more
tell me a good white basketball who is an all-star besides steve nash,dirk nowitzki and yao ming and jason kidd, mehmet okur,
dunno, black kids are more drawn to basketball than baseball, especially if they grow up in black neighborhoods and more black culture. Its the same with white people even though somehow, a small select few will play the sport their race is not as interested in as much. and no they dont recruit from europe to balance out, they do it to find the best players from around the world, no matter what the race is

no offense to be racist, but black people are often stronger than white people and bigger. Like people from Africa really are strong and fit because they work so hard in the heat.
being black or white doesn’t matter. what matters is if you can play ball or not
geographically speaking, most competitive basketball is played in the inner city(more blacks in inner city than whites), and b/c that is also where education lacks priority, the kids there play basketball ALLOOT more than they study for their chemistry exams. Thus, you are getting black kids who constantly play basketball and eventually get very good at it. (the same effect happens for latinos and soccer and suburban white kids and baseball) it’s not a race issue, it’s more of a geographic issue.
well, black players are more equipt and perform better than others.
The conditions necessary to become a good basketball player are generally not available to most white people. Most Pro basketball players come from places where they can pickup games against top competition alot.
Besides genetics, playing outside constantly will also allow you to become a better athlete later in life. Alot of inner city kids for example spend a lot more time running around outside since there is less stimulation at home.
Also, the NBA has done a lot more of drafting athletic players regardless of actual skill level. which has led to the worst shooting NBA ever.

black people are good at basketball becuz:
they can naturally jump high
basketball is a cheap sport to play (inner city kids that are poor will play lots of basketball to be entertained. they don’t have nintendo.)
also this is why white people are good at baseball, hockey, and lax.(because its expensive)
i don’t know why black people can jump higher but from watching movies on slavery and stuff i saw that they where wipped on the boat if they did not jump to stay healthy and in shape to make it to america from africa.
There is are certain body types that are equip to play basketball genetically speaking and they occur most often in the black race. The last white player to lead a team to a championship was Bird and last to the finals was Dirk. Jason Kidd is 1/2 or 1/4 black if you can’t tell. Their was one white guy in college who won the dunk contest a couple of years ago who was athletic like Kobe but the thing is it’s a much more rare occuance in the white race and then even if a white kid is born with that ability he won’t get the benefit of the doubt like a black kid so it might be harder to develop.
Thats who has the most talent!
The article has an interesting perceptive. MLB and NBA would like a more racially balanced league, but do they really try? Do they really invest in making both leagues more diversified?
I doubt it. Both leagues are driven by money… It’s cheaper for individual MLB teams to develop players in Latin America than in the USA. A team can sign a Latin American player to a low-priced contract. A team can’t do that in the USA– the player must enter the MLB draft.
For NBA teams, it’s a money issue as well. You can draft a European player and spend nothing. Just leave him in Europe for a few years while he gets more seasoned. If a team drafts an American player, it has to offer him a contract even if the team has no room on the roster.
Until the rules between US and non-US players are the same in the MLB and NBA, we’re going to have this conversation over and over again. They are so fundamentally different… Teams just take advantage of the rules. It’s more financially driven than racially driven.

I personally believe that it has a lot to do with phsycal attributes and lack of other interest.
For instance, walk though a white neighborhood and you will find tennis courts, golf courses, swimming pools and even skatebord ramps. In the Black neighborhoods you will only find basketball courts and fields of grass which we use as football fields. The only equipment you need is a ball. Some poeple can’t even afford that and can’t even play unless somebody else is already there. I always found it as ways out and a lot of black kids feel that way. Either I’ma make the NBA or I’ma be here forever. They put a lot of heart into it and they love it because it has opened up so many doors. Even the ones that don’t make it see the possibilies and encourage the next generation to be better and maybe they will make it to the promise land of the NBA.
this has nothing to with been black or white. put ti this way if u won a team and uhave a black player who is better than most or nearly all white player who would u pick. i think u would pick the black player and it the same in the nfl y is their so much white qb and so much black running back it who the owner think will do best. it about winning not about been white or black. u go make a white bball team and compare it to a average black team and u c that black r more likely better

becasue theres alot of black people that went to collage basketball and are good. and not alot of white tryed.

Its somewhat interesting to think about, but honestly, its probably just because there are more black people who are naturally talented at basketball and choose to pursue the sport as such. That doesn’t necessarily mean they have better athletes in general, but its possible.
I think the point of recruiting European players is simply to get the best players in the game into the league. Basketball is probably biggest in America, and as such Stern and other higher-ups want to get the world’s best involved in the most popular basketball league.
Because black players own the court!

Black have more talent NBA knows there is more blacks they look in Europe cuz thats where the rising stars from all over are at.
I dont think it has anything to do with the color of a person’s skin. The NBA drafts players that are strong, quick, and very athletic, or a great shooter. For some reason, there are more black men out there that fit this mold.
Another point to make is the up-bringing of the poor, inner-city kids compared to the white suburban kids. Basketball is just not a sport to the inner-city kids, it is a way out. I beleive they might just give basketball a little more because they do not have the options for their future like the suburban kids do. What I saying is that the inner-city kids take basketball a little more serious, and most of the poor, inner-city kids playing basketball hav ethe skin color of black.
there are more blacks in the nba because they are better playing the game, no owner in the nba cares what color the skin is only how good the player. the nba scouts, not recruits in europe such as olympics, pan am games and other international events. look at the number of international players today compared to 10 years ago the number is growing and probobly will continue to grow.
well the answer is because (im not being racist) black people dedicate more time to bball, you know sitting out in there driveway from when they were 3 to their senior year in college. Like always said..Practice makes perfect!
Honestly I don’t think they give a sh** if they are black or white if you are good at the game that’s all that matters. That’s like everything else music and all that as long as you are good who cares if you are purple.
GENETIC IT’S THE KEY,
THEY ARE MORE SUITABLE FOR SPORTS THAN THE REST, HOW PERFORM ASIAN OR INDIAN IN BASQUET ?
