Where can me and some buddies go camping?

We could go anywhere near Chicago or even a little into Wisconsin, so are there any places that you can camp at around there without being a campground? Parking is an issue too. Thanks for the help.
Not far from you is the Kettle Moraine State Forest.

It has some great very private walk in camp sites but what I like more are the camping shelters you hike into. some are just a short 1/2 mile hike some are ten miles out. trail heads have great parking and the forest rangers patrol regularly. Weather of course is winter conditions so "Be prepared"!
All of the Shawnee National Forest has what is called dispersed camping where you can drive in a bit on forest roads and camp, these areas will not have any facilities or fire rings or fees other then the annual pass but you can "pick your own spot"
