what happened to good old camping?

Im looking for a campground somewhere in maine or new hampshire. I have only two stipulations. I want a tent site, and I want a waterfront site. Why is it that camping is now looked at as an rv and trailer destination and tent sites are few and far between? Nobody does real camping anymore? Jeez! (if anyone knows any good spots in maine/NH, let me know! thanks!!

Y-you mean sleep in a…..a…..TENT!? who would wanna do that? the point of camping is to get away from it all, that’s why we have our RVs with beds, tv’s, kitchen equipment, etc.

I AGREE! I’m sick of setting up my tent only to have a RV pull in next to, string up Xmas lights all over and run it’s A/C all night…..Illinois

I also cant handle going to ANY campgrounds anymore. I find that the best way to find solitude is to strap on a backpack and pick a diection and go. You be amazed of what you can find in the wilderness.

um probably need to just make ur own "site"…….get there at dark and leave at sunrise and u’ll never have a problem…..and if the rangers bother u just point at an x on one of those "park maps" they hand out ans "swear u thought that’s where u were…

in NH check out the Kancamangus Highway (route 112) its part of the White Mountain national forest preserve and they maintain several campgrounds all along that road
