Camping At Disney World

Posted: September 30th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Camp Sites | Tags: , , , , , | 219 Comments »

Did you know that Disney World offers campgrounds for you and your children? You can even bring your dog along on your Disney vacation. If you want to go camping, the Fort Wilderness Resort at Disney World in Florida might be the perfect vacation spot for you. The campground offers all amenities.

Features

Camping at Disney allows you to enjoy an authentic camping experience with none of the inconveniences. All Fort Wilderness campsites include water and electricity. Selected sites offer sewage services as well, and you can access the Internet or house your pet for an additional fee. The campsite is set on a 700 acre forest filled with pine and cypress trees, and certain animals such as rabbits and deer are free to roam the campgrounds. However, you are in no danger from animals such as wolves or bears, and Disney staff stays onsite to assist campers with emergencies.

Activities

Disney Fort Wilderness offers plenty for the entire family to do during the camping experience. You can go hiking on a forest trail or fish and swim in one of the many water canals on the campgrounds. You can also take your kids on a horse and wagon ride or to the archery range. In addition, every evening, you can watch a Disney movie under the stars in an outdoor arena.

You can do all this without worrying about where you are going to go to the bathroom or take showers. While camping at Disney, you have full access to private bathrooms and shower stalls and can even do your laundry if you so desire.

Transportation To Theme Parks

If you get tired of camping, Disney offers complimentary transportation for resort guests to each of its theme parks. There are six parks accessible by bus: the Animal Kingdom, Epcot Center, Hollywood Studios, Downtown Disney, and the Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach Water Parks. Those should keep the kids (and adults) happily entertained.

Golfing

You can also visit two golf courses and other Disney World Resort Hotels. Several of the parks are also accessible via walking trails, and if you want to see the Magic Kingdom, you can take a boat ride to get there.

Price

Best of all, camping at Disney is not expensive. You can rent a campsite for as little as $43 a night, depending upon your needs. Granted, that a bit more than camping in the backyard or a national forest, but you’re next door to the Disney experience when you are their guests.

Disney Fort Wilderness charges a nominal fee for pet privileges as well as for high-speed Internet access. With so much to do, however, you probably won’t have time for the Internet. In fact, I highly recommend staying disconnected during your visit.  Camping at Disney is truly an opportunity for the whole family to get away from their regular routines and just relax.

Other Options In The Area

If Fort Wilderness isn’t available during your vacation, or if you would like a less costly option, there are numerous other campground options in the area.  Many of them also provide free transportation to and from the theme parks.

The Science Behind How To Catch Catfish

Posted: September 30th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Outdoor Activity | Tags: , , , , , | 1 Comment »

Have you asked yourself or someone else in the past about how to catch catfish? I am going to give some very cool tips on how to find the fish, and what to do in order to catch them. I have caught many catfish in the past, and I know how to catch them. There are two common how to catch catfish methods, and those are using jug lines, and using traditional rods and reels for sport. At a fundamental level, however, you need to know that the 2 most essential tips are how to find the fish, and what to throw at them to lure them in.

Locating the catfish is probably the more difficult of the two to do. The concept behind finding the fish involves locating points and drop offs, and / or fallen brush or stumps in the water where catfish will be hunting nourishment. So regardless of season, these fish are going to be looking for food all the time. Getting blanked when I have been out jug fishing is just something that doesn’t happen, at least not that I can remember.

Learning about the right kind of bait to use when catfishing is the second thing you need. Outside of the very large catfish, they are mostly scavengers, and will go after most anything that has a strong scent of blood or protein. So if you want to catch the big yellow catfish and blue catfish, consider using live perch or shad. Keeping them alive is sometimes difficult, and if they wear out, you can simply cut them up or slice them to get some scent into the water. The fast action seekers should consider using chicken livers or blood bait instead of bait fish.

In conclusion, catching catfish really comes down to finding them and using the right bait to catch them. I wish you good luck, and I hope these catfishing tips will help you on your way.

Bass Fly Fishing Overview and Introduction

Bass Fly Fishing Tools and Tips

The sport of fly fishing has in the past been all about catching trout. Today though, just about any fish can be caught using fly fishing techniques, whether it be freshwater or salt-water fish. Because of the fighting qualities of bass, bass fly fishing has become extremely popular throughout the world. Bass on the whole put up a tougher fight than trout – the exception being the big steelhead trout species. Because of the shape of bass (they have a flat body shape), there is increased resistance when you try to pull bass through the water with your fly rod. Although bass fly fishing differs slightly from trout fly fishing, the fly fishing skills and techniques used are the same.

Smallmouth Bass Fly Fishing Technique

Smallmouth bass are found in rivers and streams. With fishing rivers and streams, quite often there are trees and bush lining the river or stream, and therefore not enough room behind you to make a full overhead cast. Therefore learning to roll cast is recommended. Take a look at the following fly fishing casting techniques introduction for more information on roll casting. Alternatively, you can wade far enough into the river or stream to give you enough room for an overhead cast.

When fly fishing rivers and streams its also important to know how to mend the line. As rivers have faster and slower currents, the fly line may overtake the fly, or the fly may overtake the line, thus disturbing the natural drift of the fly, and possibly spooking the bass. Mending is the technique whereby a section of the fly line is lifted and moved in order to re-align it with the drift of the fly. Smallmouth bass mostly sit and wait for prey in the small pools in the river which are formed by submerged rocks, trees, or other objects. Target these pools when casting for smallmouth bass. Streamers that look like small baitfish or look like crayfish are quite effective for smallmouth bass fly fishing.

Largemouth Bass Fly Fishing Technique

Largemouth bass are found mostly in ponds and lakes. Largemouth bass flies commonly used are normally pretty big. Deer hair flies are commonly used, and poppers are also quite popular. Terrestrial flies (flies which resemble land based insects that land on the water by accident) are also quite effective. When casting dry flies for largemouth bass, its a good idea to land your fly near to weeds, rocks, lilies or other underwater objects where largemouth bass love to hide when stalking prey. Let the dry fly float on top of the water for a few minutes after casting. Make the fly twitch on the water, then slowly retrieve the line. Often the bass will strike the fly as it hits the water.

Bass Fly Fishing Equipment

You can use the same equipment for bass fly fishing that you would use for trout fly fishing. Bass fly fishing normally requires a fly fishing rod between a 6 to 9 weight. Select your fly line weight to match your fly rod. It’s not necessary to have an expensive rod and reel for bass fly fishing, and a good fly rod for someone starting out in the sport of bass fly fishing is the fairly priced St Croix Triumph Fly Fishing Rod. You can use the same double-tapered line used for trout fly fishing, but its recommended that you use a weight-forward line for bass fly fishing. Although you can catch bass with normal trout flies, you will have more success with bass specific flies.

If you know a celebrity is around while your on holiday, do you try and find them?

Posted: September 29th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Other Travel | Tags: , , , , , | No Comments »

The other day i came across this rather strange holiday. Surely most people just like to just enjoy the sun, relax by the pool. Some people go on holiday to just get away from home and to get some time away from work or even the family. However there are some that embark on Celebrity holidays….

After reading up on some holiday offers I noticed something in the Google searches that caught my eye. There are some companies that actually advertise celebrity holidays. At first i didn’t really understand, were they holidays that were designed for celebrities? So I investigated further, only to find out that there were several different types of this holiday.

One option quite basically told you where you can go on holiday and have a high probability of meeting a celebrity. There are even some hotels listed that are near these celebrities. So you can have a great holiday, but you also have the opportunity to meet a celebrity. Now would be a good time to let you know, that they don’t list where you can exactly find the celebrities.

Another is where you can go to actually feel like a celebrity yourself. Basically if you want, you can go and stay somewhere that one or more celebrities have been before. These seemed to be quite expensive from what I could tell.

The last one wasn’t a tour operator, but quite literally mentioned where the best places to find a celebrity were. This scared me a little; after all you wouldn’t want people knowing your every movement. Although they seemed to just suggest where they were, some of there directions seemed quite accurate.

I decided to look into all of these and find out where it is celebrities go on holiday, from what I could tell, the most popular destinations are St Lucia holidays, Barbados holidays and Egypt holidays.

Fishing Rig – 1 : Details On How To Make A Slip Sinker Rig Visit Today!

Posted: September 28th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Outdoor Activity | Tags: , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Slip Sinker Fishing Rig

Old School Crappie Fishing Family Secrets

There are four fishing rig types that have multiple variations that we will talk about and they are a fixed sinker rig, a slip sinker rig, a fixed bobber rig, and a slip bobber rig. There are statics that support the fact that about three fourths of all game fish that are caught in freshwater and saltwater are caught with live or natural baits. Even the pros will switch to tipping their artificial baits with live bait when the fishing get tough. But to be honest if you do not lean to rig your live baits properly you lower chances of catching fish drastically. But don’t get scared off because you don’t need to learn a different fishing rig method for every type of bait. The four methods we are going to talk about are very versatile and can be used for wide variety of baits and different fishing situations with minor modifications.

For example you can use a slip bobber rig to catch fish species from bluegill from small ponds on wax worms or red worms , to catching monster catfish or northern pike using baits 12 inches long or bigger! Al you have to do is change the size of the components used to make up a slip bobber rig and you are in business to catch any size fish. You still have to learn your baits for very special applications but the majority of natural baits will work well with the fishing rig systems we have listed.

Fixed Sinker Fishing Rig

If you are fishing for game fish that are not line or weight sensitive such as large catfish you could use a slip sinker rig. The fixed sinker rig is designed to designed to to not move when a fish hits your bait. You fish this fishing rig what is called tight line. You want no slack in your line when you fish a fixed sinker rig. If your tip moves or if you line goes slack after a hit pick your pole up and real your line back tight. With the pole still in your hand wait for a second hit. If the hit comes set the hook imediately. When you are fishing with fixed sinker fishing rigs there are a number of sinker and hook variatons you can use and they will depend on what gamefish you are targeting and what type of water conditions you are fishing in.

Slip Sinker Fishing Rig

A slip sinker rig is designed for fish that are sensitive to any line resistance. With this type of rig a fish can take the bait bait and move away without feeling any resistance from the line. Once the fish starts moving away with the bait in it’s mouth you set the hook. There are a number of different slip sinker fishing rigs that are used to catch fish in different fishing situations. Most different fishing situations use a different type of sinker. Look bellow to see our listing of different slip sinkers.

fixed bobber Fishing Rig
A fixed bobber rig is designed so that the fish taking your bait feels very little resistance when they take your bait. The key to having a correctly balanced fixed bobber rig is to match a proper size split shot or jig size with the size of the bobber you use. You want the weight of your bait and the weight of the jig or split shot to be enough to just barely keep your bobber a float. When a fish takes your bait it feels no resistance from the bobber . Fixed bobber rigs are used alot when fishing for panfish and any gamefish that can be caught at shallow depths. The disadvantage of fixed bobber rigs is that you can only set the depth as deep as the length of pole you are using.

Slip bobber Fishing Rig

A slip bobber rig is designed to be used for adjustable deep depths that are much deeper then the length of your fishing rod. Slip bobber rigs are designed to be easy to cast. Slip bobbers use a bobber stop and a bead that will stop the bobber at a set depth. This type of rig can be used to catch small or large fish.

Catfish eat a variety of different foods on a daily basis you may be surprised that catfish feed on such a large variety of foods. Here are a few examples of catfish bait we have identified that work for live bait presentations or dead cutbaits and prepared stink baits. Here a few examples of catfish bait that works well in different fishing situations, nightcrawlers, suckers, chubs, shiners, goldfish, shad, skipjack herring, bluegills, catalpa worms, grasshoppers, leopard frogs, bullfrogs as cutbait, waterdogs, adult salamanders, crayfish, saltwater shrimp, clams, and blood baits.

There are allot of fisherman that think catfish feed mainly on dead and stinking food but that is a myth. It is very true that these type of baits do work well because of the catfish’s keen sense of smell for certain types of catfish in certain situations but the truth be told catfish consume much of their daily diet from live bait types that are natural to their environment.

Catfish are a predominate night feeder and some large catfish can be caught at night. Don’t think you need to concentrate all your cat fishing at night because catfish will also feed during the day and you can use a variety of catfish bait to catch them, particularly if they are living in muddy or stained waters. Catfish are a warm water fish are very active when the water temperature rises above 70 degrees. We will concentrate on the catfish baits commonly used for the following three species of catfish, the channel catfish, the blue catfish, and the flathead catfish but first we want to give you a brief background of each type.

The channel catfish is very common and has a range from the northern to southern united states. They are blueish gray in color and often have spots along the sides of their bodies. The tail has a deep fork, and the anal fin is shorter and rounder then the bluecat. The world record channel catfish weighed 58 pounds and was taken from the Santee-Cooper Reservoir in South Carolina, July 7, 1964. Channel catfish grow very slowly and a channel often takes over over 9 years to reach a weight over 5lbs. Channel catfish are very tasty and a 1 1/2lb to 3lb fish is excellent table fare. This catfish species will hit on live bait, or dead cutbait as well as prepared catfish bait and also blood catfish baits.

The record blue catfish was caught in may of 2005 in the Mississippi River and weighed in at 124 lbs. The blue catfish grows much faster then the channel catifsh and sizes in the 20lb range are not uncommon. Blue catfish love cut bait from large shiner minnows, sunfish, suckers, and carp, but blues will also hit on live baits as well. They also love blood baits and stink baits in special fishing situations. The blue catfish is typically a blueish gray color simalar to the channel catfish but without any spots. Also blue catfish has a much longer anal fin then the channel catfish.

The flathead also has other names such as the yellow cat, opelousas, and shovelhead cat. The flathead catfish can be fond in areas west of the Appalachian Mountains, in large rivers and their basins of the Mississippi, Missouri, and Ohio. Their range goes as far north as North Dakota, and as far west as Arizona, and south to the Gulf of Mexico including northeastern Mexico. The shovelhead catfish can grow very large and will consume catfish bait primarily live bait. In some areas of the south they are a undesirable fish because they love to feed on bream and large flatheads can wipe out populations of these fish. But in many areas they are considered a prize gamefish because they grow so large. The record shovelhead was caught May 14, 1998 from Elk City Reservoir, Kansas and weighed 123 lb 9 oz. Shovelheads like to hide in deep pools, in lakes, and large slow-moving rivers. The flathead catfish has a wide flat looking head very small eyes and are very brownish color. They have more of a square tail and their jaw protrudes beyond the upper jaw.

Alaska Fishing Tours Are Recognized As An Important Part Of The State Economy

Posted: September 28th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Outdoor Activity | Tags: , , , , , , | No Comments »

There is probably no question in anyone’s mind about how important Alaska fishing tours are to the economic wellbeing of the entire state. In 2007 the Alaska Department of Fish and Game undertook a major study looking at the sport fishing industry. They found almost half a million people (residents and non-residents) purchased a fishing license in that year. These anglers went on to spend almost $1. 4 billion on hobby related expenditure. This related expenditure included travel, equipment, guides and accommodation.

The small town of Bethel, Alaska undertook a similar study in 2008. Fishing, both commercial and sport varieties play a significant economic role. This community is made up of around 6, 300 people is on the coast west of Anchorage.

The findings of the Bethel 2008 study were that they were missing a lot of opportunities. They knew the out of town visitor had a higher income and that he usually spent far more than a local fisherman. From this information they identified repeat business was a key aim. But to achieve repeat business they would need to improve the level of services available to such a visitor. The current levels of options was not enough and the standard of accommodation needed to be improved. There were easy things to do and the desirability of their fish was a positive draw card.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has long recognized the contribution sport fishing provides to the economy. This is why it has always supported the notion that guides must be registered to maintain high standard and sustainable practices in the industry. They believe having first aid certificates and appropriate insurance will support the knowledge guides have and will result in higher levels of professionalism. This will help ensure the continued viability of the fishing industry in Alaska.

One of the positive outcomes of licensing is an increase in the level of hard numerical data about fish stocks and activities. These are provided by log books maintained by the registered guides. This data will be useful for trends and for basing sensible decisions on.

One area of complementary tourism to work alongside fishing tours is Wildlife viewing tours. At this stage there is little empirical data available. However more tourists wanting to spend their tourist dollar in Alaska is always a positive sign.

Whatever way you look at it Alaska fishing tours are being recognized as an important component in the Alaskan economy. Their importance is not to be under-rated.

Parents Employ These Catfish Baits for Easy Fishing with Your Little Guys

Posted: September 28th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Outdoor Activity | Tags: , , , , , , | No Comments »

Mosts parents out there want to do their children right, and taking them out to go catfish fishing is a great idea, but you should know these tips before you go. There are some catfish baits out there that you can use, and the better ones can really catch some monster catfish, but when you are looking to just have a good time with the kids, you probably want to go with a bait that may not produce as large of fish, but will produce strikes quicker. I’m not going to pull your chain here, because I know from first hand experience that using shad and perch are the best baits around for monster catfish. I have definitely had good luck catching catfish with the baits I am about to tell you about. And I want to tell you about those other baits today.

So let’s look at 2 of those other baits. Probably the easiest catfish bait to use that will produce the greatest amount of strikes is blood bait. Blood bait has a strong odor that catfish love, and the bait will breakdown slowly as the bait sits in the water. This will put some pieces of your bait to floating in the water, and thus create a sort of trail for the catfish that will lead them to your hook. Nice huh? There was an afternoon not to long ago I was fishing in a pond with blood bait, and just killed the catfish.

The second bait I want to tell you about is chicken livers. Chicken livers are a time tested bait that works very well for catfish. Look, catfish feed mostly by smell, and when they detect blood and guts, they go nuts! All you need to do is put a piece of this bait on a bait saver or treble hook, put a split shot or two on to keep it on the bottom, and wait for the fish. Come back soon and get more great fishing tips for successful fishing trips.

Improving Your Fly Fishing Technique With Simple Way

Posted: September 28th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Outdoor Activity | Tags: , , | No Comments »

While fly fishing is conceived to be one of the most restful hobbies you'll ever engage in, there is still a certain amount of skill requirement in order to be successful. You might have heard so much about the cast and about tying your own flies and may wonder how to really improve your fly fishing techniques in order to improve your catch broad. There are just a few simple things you can remember in order to affect your time on the water a more enjoyable experience and to just plain old catch more fish; let’s review these few simple things to remember about your fly fishing techniques.

Being gentle with your cast is important and probably the most important of all fly fishing techniques. Many anglers make the error of attempting to force their project the direction you do with typical fishing. Remember that you're not trying to reach too far ahead of you and certainly don't want to sink your bait the way you do with typical fishing. Your goal is to just skim or flit your fly over the upper of the water. You also desire to remember that with fly fishing, the fly is virtually weightless and the line is heavy, so the line forces the fly and not the different way around. If you give your line just the smallest bit of guidance you'll see how it forces the fly behind it and how the fly then skims the water. Practice your cast as part of your fly fishing techniques as much as you can. You can stand in the yard and just use a line without a fly. Aim for about ten or fifteen feet in front of you and continue exercising until you can affect it perfectly.

Other ways to improve your fly fishing techniques is to get sufficient with working the line. With typical fishing you ordinarily have no slack in your line but with fly fishing, that slack is necessary for when you pull the line up for different project. Getting used to how it feels to control the slack with your secondary hand may take some practice. As you practice your cast, practice handling that slack so that it doesn't get tangled up in the line and so that you have enough slack overall. Both hands are going to be important when it comes to your fly fishing techniques so get used to how the line feels to you and what it takes to control it.

While you’re exercising your fly fishing techniques, remember not to get too taken up in instructions and the “proper” way to cast. If you do, you might find that you’re lost on the enjoyment of fly fishing overall. Anglers have been victorious with fly fishing for hundreds of years without fancy schools or teachings, so you don't need to worry too much about these things. Do the best you can with your own fly fishing techniques and remember to enjoy

Women Learn Fly Fishing Tips

Women have been fly fishing for nearly as many years as men have, but in recent years the sport of women’s fly fishing has really taken off. The relaxation and challenge of fly fishing, as well as the tranquillity of the great outdoors appeal to both men and women, and more women are flocking to this exciting sport day-by-day.

Women’s fly fishing clubs and organizations now exist for women who are interested in fly fishing. One such organization is International Women Fly Fishers, an international non-profit organization which brings women interested in fly fishing together from all over the world, and also have a directory of women’s fly fishing in the United States and from around the world.

Fly Fishing Gear for Women

Men and women are not created equal in body shape. Women would have had to purchase fly fishing gear tailor-made for men in the past, but this is no longer the case today. There has been a huge improvement in the fly fishing gear available for women in recent times. Most of the large fly fishing manufacturers have realized that women are a growing percentage of the fly fishing market, and they have started making fly fishing gear designed to meet the requirements of women. Whether a woman is looking to buy freshwater fly fishing gear, or saltwater fly fishing gear, there is now equipment specifically available.

Gear made specifically for women include fly fishing rods which are designed to be lighter, and have smaller grips to suit the smaller hands of women. Waders designed to fit the shape of a woman’s body are also now available, as well as women’s wading boots. Manufacturers are now also making fishing vests and chest packs shaped for the woman’s body.

Sage, makers of some of the finest fly rods in the fly fishing industry (such as the Sage Smallmouth Fly Fishing Rod), now make a fly fishing rod tailor made for women, the Sage Z-Axis Small Grip Fly Rod. Winston also make the Winston Joan Wulff Fly Rod, which is another high quality rod. These rods designed with smaller grips, and are lighter in weight to better suit women anglers.

Simms have now launched waders that are specifically shaped to fit women, the Simms Women’s Headwater Waders. These top quality waders are made from a 3-layer Gore-Tex material, and are stockingfoot waders. Simms also make wading boots specifically designed for women, the Simms Women’s Headwaters Boot, which are narrower than equivalent men’s wading boot, are lightweight, and are ideally suited for women.

About Cheap Travel Packages

Prices for holiday services change awfully quick, and in this incredibly fast moving world of traveling, getting the best tips brings maximum profit for businesses and rewarding alternatives for holiday makers. Cheap travel packages are a necessity given the need to attract customers, and this competition is not limited to travel agencies, as it greatly touches on the policies of hotels and complex resorts too. Sometimes the prices increase without any apparent reason, but keep in mind that the higher the demand for a certain destination, the bigger the prices will get.

Be careful about the cheap travel package you choose since you could be paying more for the flight to the destination than for the whole stay there. Those tourists whoprefer direct routes should remember that airfares vary according to some “rules” the common user remains a stranger to. Alternate routes and combinations of two flights are often cheaper than a direct one. Before taking an international flight, you should check whether you don’t pay less for getting a domestic one in the same direction, first. Some of the cheap travel packages are planned according to these standards, but others aren’t.

Another way to keep the cheap travel packages cheap all the way is never to overlook important details like the travel food. Many restaurants in various parts of the world still take advantage of tourists without their realizing it, therefore, it is time people paid more attention to the local food they could have during outings for instance. This doesn’t mean that you’d have to cook while on holiday, but you should make some research before getting to the destination and get some tips on good local establishments that focus on regional specialties. For local specialties, costs are a lot smaller and the food is absolutely great!

Another way of getting really cheap travel packages is flexibility. Let’s say that you want to go to South America. If you ask a travel agency for a holiday to Rio de Janeiro, you will most likely pay more than if you just expressed your wish of visiting Brazil. Some less known and little crowded resorts could offer you a lot more than a very popular but highly expensive one. Nevertheless, it all depends on what you expect from the cheap travel packages, and what idea of a holiday you have in mind. Plenty of other info is widely available on the Internet and you can learn loads of other stuff to help you make the best of your money and the time you spend on holiday.
